Wii Shop and NoE VIP Accounts

Hi all.

With my 360 taking a 4-6 week holiday to the great repair shop in the
sky, I went and bought a Wii to fill the gap.

I'm a little confused regarding linking your NoE account to the Wii
Shop Channel regarding the distinction between Club Nintendo and VIP
24:7 membership. I have a VIP 24:7 account and nearly 9000 stars
points in the bank (never felt the urge to spend them), however, when
trying to link the account it asks for a Club Nintendo membership and
wont accept my VIP membership details.

Looking at the NoE site it would seem that a VIP account is just an
upgraded Club account, given that you have access to all of the Club
stuff and more, should you register a marked game. However, trying to
register the Wii and Wii Sports codes that came with the console does
not work, suggesting to me that Club Nintendo is a separate scheme to
VIP.

My question is this... buh?? Secondly, are the 9000 star points in my
VIP account next to useless now if I cant link that account, does this
mean I have to start over again with a new Club account? Ideally I
want to link my VIP account and then add the new codes for more
points, is this going to be possible?

Final question, I assume you can exchange star points for Wii points
in some way through the console?

TIA

Contact NOE. It certainly *should* work.

Does that involve going through Codestorm though? Who by all accounts
are a waste of space

1. Link VIP account to Wii Shop
2. Enter new Wii and Wii Sports codes

Didn't you get an email in June about the new privacy policy?

======

At Nintendo we respect the privacy rights of our online visitors and
we recognise the importance of protecting your personal details. To
allow us to implement additional features on our website, to improve
our products and to adapt them to our users' needs and preferences, we
need your permission to gather information about your online
activities on our web site and with Nintendo's products..

Please review our new Privacy Policy by clicking on this link
http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/home/index.do and logging in
to your account. Once you have read the information on that page,
please use the appropriate buttons to either ACCEPT or DECLINE this
new Privacy Policy.

Please note that if we haven't received your answer by July 15, 2007,
or if you choose to DECLINE our new Privacy Policy, you will from that
day onwards no longer be able to use your Stars in the Stars
Catalogue, as we will be forced to deactivate your Nintendo
membership. No matter what you decide, you can still use your Stars
and enjoy all the other benefits of the Nintendo membership account
until July 15, 2007.

Also note that when you continue your Nintendo membership, from now on
your Stars will automatically expire 24 months after they were added
to your profile. Stars you have earned before the introduction of the
new Terms and Conditions expire 12 months after the introduction of
the new Terms and Conditions, which will not occur until June 1, 2008.

However, you will soon be able to swap your Stars for Wii Points in
the Stars Catalogue if you linked your Wii Shop Channel account to
your online Nintendo membership.

I did indeed, but clearly didn't actually read it.

Looks like I'll just have to get on to NoE regarding linking my
account. Did anyone else have trouble doing this or registering the
codes that came with the console?

Tried again last night and oddly enough it worked first time, with no
changes. IMO it was just not working before as I'd tried multiple
combinations of case sensitive / non-case sensitive.

Thanks anyway guys.
